NSBE Birmingham Scholarship Application

The Engineering Scholarships program supports the mission of the National Society of Black Engineers – Birmingham Professionals to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically,succeed professionally, and positively impact the community

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Birmingham Professional Chapter is awarding scholarships to qualified applicants entering the field of engineering.

Description of Program

The 2026 Engineering Scholarships program supports the mission of NSBE to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

Scholarship Qualifications

Qualified scholars must demonstrate professionalism, motivation, leadership, initiative, and personal achievement. Scholars are expected to support program objectives by choosing a study in the field of engineering or related science that will help address the technical needs of the community.

Scholars Eligibility

NSBE is looking for graduating high school seniors in the Birmingham-Metropolitan area who intend to enroll in an Engineering program at the college freshman level in the upcoming summer or fall term. Students must be a citizen of the United States at the time of application.

The application period opens on February 9th and will end on March 9th. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Application Process

All interested students should apply directly to NSBE’s application below. The application will require the following sections and attachments:

  • Education (GPA, ACT/SAT Scores, Intended College Major and Universities)

  • A personal statement

  • Awards/Honors

  • Activities (Extracurricular and Community)

  • Employment History

  • Financial Statement

Deadline for Submittal

The application period will end on March 9, 2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
